Day 13: Grand Canyon is for someone else

Taos, NM to Kingman, AZ- the end of Route 66 in Arizona
623 Miles

LONG day on the road yesterday. We left the hostel early and decided to put the hammer down...kind of. BG decided to do some historical sight seeing, and kicked it old school on Route 66.

We went through long forgotten towns and shiesty Indian reservations, trying to sell us everything from hand-woven blankets to petrified wood (tee hee). We didn't stop once, except to re-fuel and drink some water, and managed to put in over 600 miles on the now extinct highway.

We had hopes to stay on an Indian Rez, as our friend Sniggles had told us it was an experience to not miss. After driving all day, we found a small hotel in a cozy rez and decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, one night cost $100 and not in our budget, so, wearily, we continued on.

We finally stumbled upon a small, out of the way town called Kingsman and ended up in a nice cheap motel next to a chinese buffet. Throughout most of this trip we shared meals to save cash and only drank water for lunch and most breakfasts. So you can tell that the words 'all you can eat' were very, very satisfying.

30 minutes later we were full, tired and very, very excited for Vegas. By 9, we were asleep and resting up for what would hopefully be the biggest night of our trip. The final leg of our trip is near, we head for Vegas with stars in our eyes and mischief in our hearts.

I don't need a sign to tell me I look suspicious.
